3.1.3 加強語氣(intensively；completely, downright)

英語前綴 de- 可從本義延伸出加強語氣的用法來加強詞根的詞義。 de- 的本義是away(離開)，若添加一個far而變成far and away，意思是 “by far” 或 “much” (很，甚，更)。 de- 的另一本義是dwon (向下、往下)，若添加一個right而變成副詞downright，意思是 “completely, thoroughly” (完全地、徹底地)，這時de- 就帶加強語氣的內涵。

3.2 dis- (Latin)

【來源】前綴dis- 是源於拉丁語及希臘語兩種語系的前綴，拉丁語中的dis-其意為「分離、離開(away from, apart, remove)」、「否定、欠缺(not, lack of)」、「加強語氣(intensively, completely)」、「取消或反轉(undo, do in reverse)」。另須注意，古法語前綴de-含有拉丁語前綴dis-的意思。

【變體】dis- 所構成的詞彙會有音的同化(assimilation)，發音也會改變(non-neutral)，如重疊子音不會出現，接在拉丁詞根(root)之前，以詞素為界(morpheme boundary)，不接完整的詞(word)。

1. 所接的詞根第一個字母為f時，會同化為dif-，這種變化稱為完全同化(total assimilation)
   dis- → dif- / ___ + f (如diffident)
    
2. 所接的詞根第一個字母為有聲子音時，為了維持音節最佳結構，dis-會變成di-
   dis- → di- / ___ + [voiced consonants]
   有聲子音包括d, g, l, m, n, r, v，其中以出現在v之前最常見
    
3. 若非以上的情況，則保持原有的形態並無變體。
