accord /əˈkɔrd/

v. to agree; to be consistent; to reconcile ((與...)一致，協調)；to grant, to bestow (給與；授與(較give正式))

n. agreement ((國家間的)協議)； harmony ( (顏色或聲音的)調和；和諧)； consensus (一致)

【推測詞義】朝向對方的心，為「心心相印，貼心(heart-to-heart)」之意，因此才會同意(agree)。

【字彙淺析】一般學生對於according to (依照)都不陌生，但除了分詞的用法之外，accord還有以下常用片語。She quit her job of her own accord. (她辭職是出於她自己的自由意志，即她自動地辭職)。在戰事綿延的國家間可以看到reach an accord (得到共識)、peace accord (和平協議)、ceasefire accord (停火協議)。in accord with, out of accord with則是指「與…一致」或「與…不一致」，如The job what I am doing is in accord with my personal goal.
